I have two magical websites now. My original remains active: MagicsparkEs.com Some people tell me to drop the “E” in my last name so that my website will be easier to find. I have a couple of problems with that so called helpful suggestion. Firstly, someone else owns and operates, Magicsparks. Secondly, my last name is pronounced sparks, but it is spelled in the old English style with an E at the end. I’m so use to it that whenever I see sparks I think it is misspelled. Thirdly, I don’t mind being a little bit off the well traveled path. I love performing magic, so much so that I do not want to do it full time. That might sound like a contradiction, but by limiting my performances, I can thoroughly and completely dedicate my efforts around my clients. Since my shows are steadily in demand and not in constant demand, I am never overworked. This means my energy and performance is ready and strong.
Finally, and just so you know, Sparkes with an “e” is still relatively common in the UK, Canada and Australia. There’s even a Sparkes farm east of Vancouver B.C. Check it out if you’re in the area. I’m not directly related, but I do feel a kinship. Regarding my full name, Douglas Sparkes, there was a musician / teacher named Douglas Sparkes in Canada. Sadly, he passed away recently, but was relatively known in his field. There aren’t a lot of Sparkes in my neck of the woods. Thus, I do believe, I am the only Sparkes who entertains with mystery, magic and impish mayhem.
